In this respect, this study tries to reveal some traits of abstracts submitted to the International Pragmatics Association (IPrA) conferences by analysing them as a corpus and to show some implications to English for Academic Purposes (EAP) through the entire analysis of the corpus and a comparison between abstracts written by native and non-native speakers of English. To analyse the corpus, this paper adopts the fivemove analysis, which scrutinises the components (moves) and the structure of abstracts. Though the results did not show any noticeable differences between native and non-native speakers of English, the corpus had a prototypical move structure, in which the abstracts tended to start with the components of Background or Aim and to be endowed with Method, ending with a Conclusion.
